What makes our soap different

  • Plant oils and butters

Olive, coconut, shea and cocoa butter for a creamy, conditioning lather.

  • Pure essential oils

Scent from flowers, herbs, woods and peels. Never synthetic fragrance.

  • Made by hand

Mixed, poured, cut and wrapped by hand in small batches.

  • Slowly cured

Every bar rests for weeks, so it is milder and lasts longer.

What goes in

Good things in. Nothing you don't need.

We keep the recipe short. Every ingredient is there for a reason, and every bar lists all of them, so you always know what you're putting on your skin.

  • Olive oil

The gentle, conditioning heart of every bar.

  • Coconut oil

For a big, bubbly, cleansing lather.

  • Shea and cocoa butter

Rich butters for a creamy, moisturizing feel.

  • Clays and charcoal

Natural color and a little extra cleansing.

  • Oats and botanicals

Petals, herbs, oats and spices for gentle texture and color.

  • Essential oils

Scent straight from flowers, herbs, woods and citrus peel.

What stays out

Real soap doesn't need any of it.

  • Synthetic fragrance
  • Artificial dyes
  • Parabens and preservatives
  • Sulfate detergents like SLS

Our bars get their color from clays, spices and botanicals, and their scent from essential oils, or nothing at all.

How it's made

Good soap can't be rushed.

Cold-process soap takes time. Every batch is made by hand in small amounts, so each bar gets the attention it deserves.

From the first stir to the day it is wrapped, a bar takes about six weeks to make. That wait is what makes it gentle.

  1. Step 1: Blend

Plant oils and butters are gently warmed, then blended with a lye solution until the mixture thickens like custard.

  2. Step 2: Pour

Clays, botanicals and essential oils are stirred in by hand before the soap is poured into molds to set.

  3. Step 3: Cut and cure

Each loaf is cut into bars and left on airy racks for four to six weeks to harden and mellow.

  4. Step 4: Wrap

Finished bars are checked one by one, wrapped by hand and labeled with every ingredient inside.

Ask a question
  • How does ordering work?

Add the soaps you'd like to your bag and send an order request. No payment is taken on the website. We'll email you to confirm your bars, the total and how to pay, and to arrange pickup or delivery.

  • How long does a bar last?

With daily use, a bar usually lasts four to six weeks. The secret is keeping it dry between uses: a draining soap dish away from the shower stream can almost double its life.

  • Is there lye in your soap?

All real soap starts with lye (sodium hydroxide). It reacts completely with the oils and butters while the soap cures, turning into soap and natural glycerin, so there's none left in the bar you use.

  • Which bar is best for sensitive skin?

Every bar is mild, but if your skin is easily irritated, start with our unscented bar, which has no essential oils or botanicals at all. Each soap's page lists every ingredient, so you can check for anything you avoid.

  • Why do you cure the soap for weeks?

Curing lets extra water evaporate while the bar finishes turning into soap. The result is a harder, milder bar that lathers better and lasts much longer in the dish.

  • Can I order soap as a gift or in bulk?

Of course. Add a note to your order request, or send us a message about larger orders, favors or gifts, and we'll work out the details together.
